Faith Lutheran begins its annual celebration of the most holy week of the entire church year on Sunday, April 10th. The children of Faith will sing in worship, and Faith Factor will make a rare Sunday appearance to help lead the music at our 10 AM worship service.
But that is just the beginning of a special week of services. And all services will be under the theme, “In View of God’s Mercy.” Through Good Friday, that view focuses directly on the cross where Jesus was crucified for our sins. But then on Easter Sunday, the (now empty) cross is replaced by a view from an empty tomb as Jesus has defeated death for each of us, that we might have eternal life.
So join us at the following special days and times for worship:
- (HOLY) Thursday – April 14th at 6:30 PM. Service of the Sacrament followed by an end-of-service formal altar strip to prepare for Good Friday;
- (GOOD) Friday – April 15th at 12 Noon and 6:30 PM. In this dramatic and sorrowful “service of darkness”, we contemplate the cost of Christ and His death, which was for each of us and our sins. The 12 Noon service coincides with the time when darkness came over the whole land for three long hours, as the weight of the world’s sin was placed on our Savior;
- (HOLY) Saturday – April 16th at 5 PM. The service on this day is traditionally known as the “Vigil of Easter”. Indeed, the service will begin in solemn vigil. But then it will transcend into our first celebration of Easter, and include the sacrament. Faith Factor will help lead the music for this service;
- EASTER SUNDAY – APRIL 17th. Please join us at the following times and settings:
- SON-RISE Service at 7 AM. Timber Greens golf course, 11th fairway, turning on the first road on River Crossing going south from Starkey Blvd. Faith Factor will lead the music. The Rev. Richard Arndt will lead the service and preach the message;
- FESTIVAL WORSHIPS at Faith at 8 and 11 AM. Holy Communion will be a part of each service, as Faith finally retires the final COVID restrictions. THESE TIMES ARE THIS SUNDAY ONLY. There will not be a 10 AM worship on this day, though that remains our regular worship time;
- EASTER BREAKFAST and EASTER EGG HUNT from 9:15 to 10:45 AM. Tickets available at the door;
- SATURDAY, APRIL 23RD – 9 AM. While this service is not a part of the Holy Week group of services, there will be a special worship that morning as a part of the Spring Zone Rally of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Everyone is invited to this service of the sacrament.
