On this weekend – we recognize the Ascension of Christ into Heaven, we are reminded that the gathering of God’s people for worship is one of the ways through which Christ sustains His Body, the Church. With Christ seemingly gone, at times it may seem that the Body of Christ is fighting a losing battle against the negative and evil forces of the world. But in writing to the Ephesians, Paul reminds them and us that the ascended Christ is still with us – and is Lord of all worlds. His power is ultimate, and His care for His people is unassailable. He promises that where He is, there His faithful servants will be. Now with our Savior in Heaven interceding for us, with joy, we anticipate our own ascension!
