On May 24th, we will both begin our new Summer worship schedule as well as begin the second half of the church year (known as the “Life of the Church”) with a special Pentecost Mission Festival.
Our guest speaker will be the Rev. Hiruy Bereket Gebremichael. Rev. Gebremichael was ordained as an LC-MS pastor in 2010. He currently serves the (rapidly) growing population of people in the Atlanta, GA area from the Christian African nation of Eritrea, as well as being a missionary to the Tigrinyan-speaking population across the country. He is an associate pastor at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Tucker, GA.
Pastor Gebremichael’s message brings the Gospel truth into a 21st-century reality. Even while losing several members of his family back in his home country (due to civil war, and the emergence of Muslim ethnic cleansing), his work bears the mark of someone who shows that there is still a hunger in people to hear the Gospel.
Yes, that is Memorial Day weekend. And for those who are wondering about the usual Memorial Day activities, there will be a special service for a national holiday on Sunday, July 5th.\
